We are delighted to announce the project STAR! STAR is financed by the The Swedish Energy Agency from 2024 – 2027.
The goal of STAR is to scale up efficient production of biobased chemicals and materials with focus on furan compounds from lignocellulosic residues.
STAR is led from Lund University and involves stakeholders along the value chain and a multidisciplinary group of researchers to perform technology optimization and process design for scale up of HMF production from C6 sugars, transformation of HMF and C5 sugar based furfural to FDCA for use in recyclable plastics, techno-economic and life cycle assessments and product evaluations.
Project Partners
Project partners are different departments at Lund University and industry partners Alfa Laval, Bona AB, Nordzucker A/S, and Perstorp AB. This collaboration combines the expertise in different disciplines and industry knowledge needed for implementing the project.
Work Packages
